Installing the PT8600 unit takes only minutes. Its strong, flexible cable is easily routed over pulleys or through conduit. It does not require perfect alignment, and provides reliable and precise position measurements without the need for periodic adjustments. The unit's small size to measurement ratio allows it to be easily installed in tight areas. When retracted, the PT8600 is only 6 inches tall yet can up to 60 inches.

Measuring the movement and displacement of objects is easy with cable-extension position modules. The transducer's body is attached to a fixed surface and its stainless steel cable is attached to the moving object. As the cable extends, the encoder shaft spins, providing hundreds pulses per inch to be used as a signal for display, recording or feedback. An internal spring motor maintains constant tension on the cable for retraction.
