GATHERING POSITIONAL DATA IN HARSH ENVIRONMENTS IS EASIER AND LESS COSTLY WITH CELESCO'S STAINLESS STEEL PT9420 |

Canoga Park, CA -- The stainless steel version of the Celesco Model PT9420 industrial
grade cable-extension position transducer makes position monitoring in corrosive
environments easier, more reliable, and less costly. Available in a stainless steel
enclosure and sealed to NEMA 4 standards, this rugged sensor remains reliable and durable
in even extremely harsh environments such as waste water facilities and off-shore oil
platforms.
The PT9420 has a 4-20 mA feedback signal, enabling data acquisition over long distances while resisting electromagnetic interference. It is thousands of dollars less than other continuous output transducers, such as magneto-restrictive devices, and it does not cost significantly more than discrete devices such as limit switches. The PT9420 is available in measurement ranges from 75 to 550 inches and in extended ranges up to 1700 inches. Accuracy is +/- 0.15% Full Stroke with a repeatability of 0.05%. It is also available with an extra thick cable option with measurement ranges up to 350 inches. The thicker cable is three times thicker than the PT9420's standard cable and ten times stronger than competitive cable-extension transducers. This sensor is easy to mount and easy to use. The transducer's body, a sealed cylindrical housing which protects its precision potentiometer sensing element, is mounted to a fixed surface. Its stainless steel extension cable is attached to the movable object. As the object moves and the cable extends, the transducer's 4-20 mA circuitry sends an electrical signal proportional to the cable's linear extension. (An internal spring motor maintains constant tension on the cable for retraction.) This signal can be displayed, recorded, or input into a data acquisition controller. The PT9420's sealed housing meets NEMA 4 standards to provide protection from dust, moisture, hydraulic fluid and other environmental elements. Its sealed design, 4-20 mA output current and 38 mA circuit protection make it ideal for use in factories, outdoors and applications requiring the acquisition of displacement and velocity data. The PT9420 is a member of Celesco's complete family of transducers which are available in a variety of measurement ranges and mechanical and electrical options. For shorter position measurement ranges, Celesco offers its PT8000 Series and for longer ranges it has the PT9000 SeriesÑwhich both use stainless steel cables. For applications requiring rotational position feedback, Celesco offers the RT8000 and RT9000 Series. Celesco has a 25-year history of designing and manufacturing cable-extension transducers that provide superior reliability and durability. OEMs and end users choose Celesco transducers because of their high accuracy, resolution, and repeatability. The company, founded in 1968, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tedea, Ltd.
