CELESCO RT8420 MAKES GATHERING ROTATIONAL POSITION DATA
IN HARSH ENVIRONMENTS EAISER AND LESS COSTLY
Canoga Park, CA - Monitoring the position of quarter-turn valves, winches and other rotating machinery over long distances has proven to be difficult, unreliable, and costly--until now. The new Celesco Model RT8420 industrial-grade rotational transducer is easy to install and use, reliable in even the harshest outdoor or industrial environments and those subject to electromagnetic interferences, and costs hundreds of dollars less than other continuous output transducers such as multi-tier absolute encoders.

The RT8420 has a sealed design which meets NEMA 4 standards, protecting its sensing element from dust, moisture, hydraulic fluid and other environmental elements. Its 4 - 20 mA feedback signal enables data acquisition over long distances while resisting electromagnetic interferences. And priced at only $350 per unit, the RT8420 does not cost significantly more than discrete devices such as limit switches.

This rugged transducer can be configured for full-stroke ranges from one eighth to 180 turns -- almost 65,000 degrees. Accuracy for full scale ranges less than 5 turns is +/- 0.3% of full scale while higher turn units are accurate to +/- 0.15% of full scale. All ranges have essentially infinite resolution.

It takes only minutes to install the RT8420. Simply mount its housing to a reference surface and connect its rotational shaft to the rotating element to be sensed.

The RT8420's sealed design, 4 - 20 mA output current and 38 mA circuit protection make it ideal for use in hydro-electric plants, factories, outdoors and applications requiring the monitoring or acquisition of rotational position data in harsh environments.

The RT8420 is a member of Celesco's complete family of industrial-grade transducers which are available in a variety of measurement ranges and mechanical and electrical options. This product is a member of Celesco's RT8000 family of transducers used for measuring rotational position. For applications requiring a linear position feedback, Celesco offers the PT8000 and PT9000 series. All of these industrial-grade transducers have a sealed cylindrical housing based on NEMA 4 standards.

This rugged rotational position transducer is just one example of Celesco's innovative products. Celesco, headquartered in Canoga Park, California, designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of transducers and related precision instruments. The company is the world's largest supplier of cable-extension position transducers which are used to detect and measure linear position and velocity. Its other families of transducers are used for measuring rotational position and differential pressure. Celesco also manufactures thermocouple reference junctions. OEMs and end users choose Celesco transducers because of their high accuracy, resolution and repeatability. The company, founded in 1968, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tedea, Ltd.
